IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Albert G.
Pine
January 13, 1940 – April 3, 2024
Albert G. Pine of Collingswood, NJ, died on April 3, 2024, surrounded by loving family. He was 84.
He departed this Earth early on a Wednesday morning to make his tee time for one final round of golf - this time in heaven. We envision him playing a perfect game with a big smile on his face on the most beautiful course.
Beloved husband of 60 years to Barbara Pine (nee Brooks), dear father of Albert J. Pine and Sandra (Ron) Kelly, loving grandfather to Ronnie and Erin (Evan) Jorgensen. He is also survived by siblings David (Peggy) Pine, Charles (Karen) Pine and Linda (Jeffrey) Salkowski and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Eva, and sisters Nancy and Phyllis Pine.
Born and raised in Pennsauken, NJ, Al attended Merchantville High School and served his country in the Army from 1957 to 1960. His public service continued after graduating from the Camden County Police Academy in 1962 and throughout a 28-year career in the Camden County Sheriff's Office where he was known as diligent and hard working. He knew the department well, and mentored many rookies with whom he remained close for decades after retirement. Al rose through the ranks from correctional officer to retirement as a captain.
In retirement, he enjoyed traveling and having new adventures with wife Barbara, and family and friends. Often the life of the party, he entertained many with his great sense of humor, and his dancing.
His love for the game of golf kept him active; you could find him every Wednesday packing up his clubs at dawn to enjoy golf with friends. He also served his community for years as a baseball umpire, giving golf lessons to kids, and as a boxing coach.
His true passion in life was being a grandfather to Erin and Ronnie. He adored them, walking them home from school and helping Barbara babysit them, and modeled to them the devotion and dedication that is the perfect example of a loving grandparent. He showered them with affection, and often his hard-earned cash to help make their dreams a reality. "Pop Pop" was their consistent cheerleader and number one fan. They will miss him dearly.
