Anne Elizabeth Saunders “Liz” (nee O’Brien) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on February 28, 2026. A resident of Ocean City, NJ and formerly of Haddon Township, NJ, Anne was 93 years old.
Beloved wife of the late Robert H. Saunders. Loving mother of Robert (Debra) Saunders of Voorhees, NJ, Scott (Vinnie) Saunders of Ocean City, NJ and Susan (William) Remphrey of Haddonfield, NJ. Devoted Nana to Hayden Remphrey, Elizabeth Saunders, Savannah (Kevin) Short, Ava Remphrey and Caroline Saunders. Daughter of the late Vincent and Karen O’Brien (nee Larson). Dear sister of the late Alice Fulton. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Anne was born in Bedford, NY in 1932. She attended school until the 8th grade in Bedford, NY and then her family moved to Clearwater, FL. She attended Clearwater High School where she was voted most popular, friendliest and homecoming queen. She met Bob, the love of her life in 1951 and they were married in 1953. They celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in 1993. After Bob passed away in 1994, she never remarried. They would have been married for 73 years.
Anne was a nurse for most of her life at a small doctor’s office. She was very involved with her church, St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Collingswood, helping to open up a donation center for people in need. She was also very involved in the PTA at her kid’s schools and was even a crossing guard. She was very talented designing and making stained glass and ceramics. Anne also enjoyed traveling, gardening, going to the beach, reading and spending time with her family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Friday, April 17, 2026, 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 204 Wayne Ave., Haddonfield, NJ. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment Locustwood Memorial Park, Cherry Hill, NJ.
The family would kindly ask no black attire but instead to please wear the colors of spring to brighten the day.
