Carol A. Boyle's Obituary

Listen to Obituary

Carol Boyle of Collingswood, NJ, passed peacefully on April 2nd, 2026.

Across 80 years, Carol’s life held many blessings, including 60 years of marriage to her devoted husband and high school sweetheart, Richard “Dick” Boyle. Dick and Carol shared countless joys through their years, with Dick being Carol’s true rock. His unwavering devotion and love both anchored and buoyed Carol across life’s vicissitudes. Together, they worked to build a rich and rewarding life while growing the legacy of a beautiful family.

Born Carol Ann Hart, Carol was the first child of the late Jack and June (Austin) Hart of Collingswood. Among other youth activities, Carol entered community parades upon lavish floats, discovered the Valentine Lady, served as a Girl Scout, drummed in the Audubon Drum and Bugle Corpe (Bon Bons), and attended art classes in Philadelphia. Carol graduated in 1964 from Collingswood Senior High School, where she met Dick. They married in 1965 and soon after purchased their Collingswood residence.

While taking care of their home and children, Carol completed studies at Glassboro State College (Rowan University), graduating in 1979 with a teaching degree in primary education. After student teaching at Mark Newbie School, Carol taught 6th grade for over 25 years at William P. Tatem Elementary - where she also led the school’s Safety Patrol. Students often characterized Carol as being strict; yet she was also respected for her approach to learning and positive student outcomes. Carol continually sought ways to inspire young imaginations– even dressing up as an Egyption royal for her students’ studies in ancient civilizations.

At her heart, Carol was beautifully creative – deeply inspired through design and color. In addition to dabbling at painting and illustration, Carol primarily channeled her esthetic passions through quilting, home design, and flower gardening. She enjoyed her quilting friends’ group - Love Apples – producing imaginative quilts that have since graced family homes. It’s said that Carol could have had a career as a home decorator. Her eye for detail, bold nature in offsetting colors and patterns, appreciation for classical beauty, and whimsical instincts created a warm and relaxing home that speaks meaningfully of her character. Through travel, Carol was thrilled to further explore arts, architecture, and culture - notably in visiting Ireland, Italy, France, and China.

Carol was most comfortable, however, at home – a place she had the good fortune to call in not only Collingswood, but also in Avalon, NJ, and Naples, Florida. Dick and Carol’s time in Florida is remembered for comfortable relaxation and breezy air on the lanai; while the Avalon house continues its long history of forming special family memories.

In addition to her husband, Richard, Carol is survived by her children: Kelly Raymond, Richard Boyle Jr. (Amy Chorey), Megan Standring (Mark Standring), and James Boyle (Kira Broeker). Always charmed by a child’s spirit of wonder and discovery, Carol delighted in her eight grandchildren: Jack Standring, Emma Standring, Tess Standring, Vivienne Boyle, Josephine Boyle, Cole Raymond, Wren Boyle, and Sidney Boyle.

Carol is further survived by her younger siblings, Susan Ameno, Candace Lowden, Brian Hart, and Gregory Hart. Carol deeply valued their friendships and loving support, which lasted throughout her life. Extended family were also loved, though too many to name.

All are welcome to a celebration of Carol Boyle– with memorial services to be held at Collingswood’s Foster-Warne Funeral Home on Saturday, April 18th. Visiting hours are from 10am until service begins at 11:30. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be sent to the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund of Wellesley Hills, MA.
