Obituary

Charles (Charlie, Rock, Pop Pop) Robert Clements Jr. passed away on September 3, 2023 at the age of 69, in his hometown of Lawnside, NJ from an unexpected heart attack. Even though a failing heart took him away from this world, his loving heart left a beacon of light especially within the home of his grandchildren who still smile ear to ear at the mere mention of 'Pop Pop.'

Charlie was a graduate of Haddon Heights High School, class of 72'. He completed his Bachelor's degree at Franklin and Marshall College and his Master's degree at Temple University. He worked for over 25 years as a sales rep for United States Tobacco Co. and moonlighted for Acme Markets, in Haddonfield, NJ.

The simplest pleasures in life brought joy to Charlie. He was a history buff, who took particular interest in the WWII era as his father was a war veteran. His favorite shows and movies were Combat!, The Big Red One and Saving Private Ryan. Charlie loved to argue about politics and had a genuine concern for those who were less fortunate. He was an avid football fan but a bit of a front runner. In the 70s, he was a Steelers fan. The 80's, it was the 49ers. He kindly passed on the 90s because the Cowboys were the talk of that decade, and he had a clear disdain for that franchise. In the 2000's he became a Patriots fan out of nowhere. Ultimately, he never hid how passionate he was about the 49ers. He even had a hideous 49ers leather jacket. Right up to his last day on this earth, the mere mention of their past NFC Championship loss to the Eagles would set him off.  He was also a profound animal lover and as well as a foodie who held his daughter-in-law's cooking in high regard and would never pass on the opportunity to enjoy grilled food especially steak.

Charlie was a hilarious storyteller who made sure to never exclude any details out of said story, from his perspective of course. He was a hard worker, who inherited his work ethic from his father, Charles Sr. As passionate as he was about football, he was even more enthusiastic about his grandchildren who brought consistent joy to his life. His idea of living forever was living through them. He was predeceased by his father, Charles R. Clements Sr., and his mother Alice (nee Williams). He is survived by his son, Charles III, Daughter-in-law, Tawny (nee Santos) and three grandchildren (Cruz, Cristian and Cash) who inherited his love of sports, animals and most of all his stubbornness.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Sunday, September 10, 4 PM to 6 PM at the FOSTER-WARNE FUNERAL HOME, 820 Haddon Ave., Collingswood, NJ.  Life Celebration service will follow at 6 PM.  Entombment will take place privately.
