IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles T.
Davidson
August 5, 1948 – August 26, 2020
Charles Thomas Davidson, 72, longtime resident of Haddon Township died on August 26, 2020. Known as Chick by friends and family, and Charlie by his co-workers, he was born in Camden on August 5, 1948 to Alfred B. Davidson and Charlotte Davidson (nee Anderson). Chick graduated from Audubon High School Class of 1966, excelling in football, basketball and baseball. He graduated from Gettysburg College Class of 1970.
Sports remained a part of Chick's life. After college, he was an active rugby player with the South Jersey Rugby Football Club. He coached the Holy Saviour girls basketball team from 1988 to 1993. A lifelong fan of the Philadelphia teams, he saw the Flyers and Phillies win their first championships in person. He was also fan of the Navy Midshipmen football team and attended games in Annapolis for nearly 15 years. Later in life, Chick slowed down and took to gardening and birding.
Chick worked his entire career in the electrical supplies industry working both in Philadelphia and South Jersey with Mao Electrical Supply and City Electrical Supply.. Chick was a sales manager, general manager and warehouse manager. Starting in a time before computers, Chick knew part numbers and locations in the warehouse by heart. As an early riser, his employers counted on him to open the branch each morning for decades to serve their customers. He retired in December 2019.
Charles is survived by his son, Jesse (Katie) Davidson of Falls Church VA, daughter Sara (Lightning) Atkinson of Skokie, IL, four grandchildren, Xander, Dwell, Madeline and Andrew, and long-time friend and companion Lorraine Wireback.
