On June 23, 2013, of Westmont, NJ. Age 82 years. Beloved husband of 61 years to Catherine. Dear father of Kenneth (Marianne), William (Lisa) and David (Noel). He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and a great granddaughter.
Mr. Wagner was a graduate of Camden High School, Glassboro State Teacher's College and Temple University. He was employed as a 5th grade teacher at Haddon Twp. Public Schools, a 7th and 8th grade teacher at Haddon Heights Jr/Sr High School, a Counselor and Guidance Director at Heritage Middle School, Cherry Hill, President of the Cherry Hill Instructional Council, a Glassboro State Teacher's College Extension Course Instructor and School Student Activities Director at Beck Middle School, Cherry Hill.
He served for 42 years in the New Jersey National Guard and U.S. Army Reserve, rising from the rank of Private to Colonel and having commanded the 1st Bn 114th Infantry Regiment NJARNG. He was a graduate of the U.S. Command and Staff College and served as the Tactical Department Director of the NJ State Military Academy, training National Guard and Army Reserve personnel for officer's commissions. His final duty assignment was at Headquarters, NJ Army National Guard as a Chief Training Officer.
Mr. Wagner was also a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Collingswood, where he was a Church Council member and President and Food Pantry Director. He also was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout adult leader and member of the Westmont Lions Club.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Thursday 10 to 11 AM at the FOSTER-WARNE FUNERAL HOME, 820 Haddon Ave., Collingswood, NJ. Funeral Service will follow at 11 AM. Interment private. The family requests memorial donations be made to St. Paul's Food Pantry, 832 Park Ave., Collingswood, NJ 08108.
