Obituary

Suddenly on December 23, 2020, of Audubon, NJ.  Age 78 years.

Beloved husband of 21 years to Virginia (nee Neal).  Dear father of Marisa (Chris) Tkachuk, Alan Todd (Stacey) Van Meter, Tiffany (Nathan) Baxter, Chad (Sarah) McFee and Meghan (Brett) Houck.  Loving grandfather of 15 grandchildren.  Brother of Michael Ceglia, Carolyn Farquharson and the late William Ceglia.

Dan grew up in Southwest Philadelphia approximately 4 miles from Philadelphia International Airport.  Having a constant view of the incoming and outgoing aircraft, he developed a real interest in planes and flying, which became his life's passion.  He started flying in 1961 and eventually went on to acquire and pilot private aircraft recreationally.  Because of his love of flying as well as his love of country, he enlisted in the USAF Reserves as Airman and went through basic training as an Aircraft Mechanic.  He was honorably discharged in 1969.

Those who knew Dan well know him as a leader, an attribute he honed from a young age, having served on the safety patrol in 5 th and 6 th grades.  He eventually became President of the Class of 1960 at Triton High School.

Most will not be surprised to know that Dan first went into business for himself at the age of 10, when he began selling Christmas cards door to door.  He then worked as a stock boy and soda jerk at the neighborhood pharmacy at 12 years old.  Dan trained as a draftsman in junior high and moved to rebuilding automobile engines while in high school.  Upon his high school graduation, he was hired as a draftsman for a company in Chestnut Hill, PA. He then started Drexel Institute of Tech at night with a focus on Architectural Engineering.  From there he quickly escalated to entrepreneurship and started and/or acquired 7 different businesses throughout his life.  Having accumulated years of intimate knowledge in the cogs and wheels of running a business, Dan naturally transitioned to management consulting within a variety of manufacturing companies.  He then founded Strategic Business Management Group where he worked with executives throughout a broad variety of industries to help elevate their business practices and implement revenue building strategies for the purpose of growth and increased profitability.

Dan was a faithful Rotarian, an organization that he was originally asked to join in 1985 when he became a member of the Philadelphia Rotary.  He later joined Audubon-Haddon Twp-Oaklyn Rotary Club where he served as President from 2009-11, Asst Gov of District 7640 in 2011, Gov of district 7640 in 2013-14, and then RI Zone Coordinator 2017-19.

In 2019, Dan was honored as a 50-year-member of Haddonfield United Methodist Church.  Throughout his time within the church, he served as a Sunday School teacher and board member.

He will be missed by many, but by none so greatly than his loving family and dear friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Tuesday 9 to 11 AM at the Haddonfield United Methodist Church, 29 Warwick Rd., Haddonfield, NJ.  Funeral Service will follow at 11 AM.  Interment New St. Mary's Cemetery, Bellmawr, NJ.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Red Cross at www.redcross.org .
