Obituary

Edward Howe Bohn, Jr., of Collingswood, NJ, beloved husband of the late Catherine Huth Bohn, died November 18, 2015. He was a graduate of Collingswood High School, Drexel University and Rutgers University. As a member of the Navy, Ed served his country in the Pacific during World War II. He was always active in his community. He was a member of the Collingswood Board of Education from 1960 to 1981 and chairman of the board's personnel committee for 10 years. He also served on the Collingswood Zoning Board. In the early 1990s, he joined the Zipper Club at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and spent two decades as a volunteer educating patients about heart health. He also volunteered as an ombudsman at the Collingswood Manor. Ed will foremost be remembered as a Christian gentleman who above all believed in honesty and fairness.

Ed was born in Norfolk, VA, into a family that on his maternal side traced its roots to pre-revolutionary Virginia. But he lived in Collingswood almost his entire life--in the shadow of the Philadelphia site where his paternal ancestors docked upon their arrival from Germany in 1742.

Survivors include daughters, Suzanne Richardson (Jim) of Alexandria, VA and Virginia Baskerville (Geoffrey Hilary) of Stratford, NJ; son, Edward H. Bohn, III (Luanne) of Merchantville, NJ; four grandchildren, Edward H. Bohn, IV, Samuel Bohn, Caroline and David Baskerville and a great granddaughter, Savannah Green. His brother, Lewis predeceased him in 2013.

Services and interment will be private.

Contributions may be made in his name to the Collingswood Manor, 460 Haddon Ave., Collingswood, NJ 08108.
