On December 22, 2016, of Cherry Hill, NJ, former longtime resident of Collingswood, NJ.  Age 86 years.

Beloved husband of 63 years to Alice Anne Hughes (nee O'Brien).  Dear father of Mary (George) O'Brien and Warren E. Hughes.  Loving grandfather of George, Alice, Brien, Stephen, Edward, Maura and Philip and great grandfather of Anna, David and Daniel.

Mr. Hughes was a 1948 graduate of Camden Catholic High School and president of his class.  He was a U.S. Marine Corps Korean Conflict veteran, serving in the 1st Marine Corps division and a purple heart recipient.  He also was a longtime baseball umpire and basketball referee, where he was former president of IAABO (basketball officials).  "Eddie" was a charter member of Father McGill Council K fo C #5113 and 4th Degree member of Bishop Eustace Assembly #652.  He was past president of Transfiguration Church Holy Name Society and Lector at the 8:30 AM Daily Mass for Fathers Ahern, Cairone and Lodge.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Monday 10 to 11 AM at Most Precious Blood Parish, Transfiguration Church, 445 White Horse Pike, West Collingswood, NJ 08107.  Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM.  Entombment Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill, NJ.
