Elvira "Vera" Schweim (nee D'Andrea) passed away on March 16, 2024 at the age of 102.  A longtime resident of Collingswood, NJ, Vera currently resided in Ocean City, NJ.

She was predeceased by her parents, Nicholas and Caroline D'Andrea, her beloved husband William G. Schweim, two sisters, Dolly Tomassetti and Olga Cowgill and her brother, Joseph D'Andrea.  She is survived by her daughter, Christine Schweim Brooks (Johnny) and two sons, William Schweim and Robert (Nicole) Schweim; six grandchildren: Heather Brooks Thomas (Timothy), Matthew Brooks (Elizabeth), Colin Schweim, Cody Schweim, Alyza Grace Schweim and Andrea Fava (Rick); six great grandchildren: Caitlyn, Hannah, Harrison, Nicholas, Hudson and Jacob and a great-great grandson, Logan.

Vera was a 1940 graduate of Collingswood High School where she was a cheerleader and met her husband, Bill Schweim.  They married in 1943 in Collingswood while Bill was on leave from the Navy.  Once Bill retired from the Navy, he started ADS Printing and Stationery in Collingswood where Vera worked the stationery store.  She enjoyed playing pinochle, dancing and singing and spending summers in Ocean City.

Since 2022, Vera has resided at the United Methodist Communities, The Shores at Wesley in Ocean City.  There she enjoyed singing and dancing in the hallways.  She once said back in 1973 that she hoped she'd be around to see her first grandchild go to kindergarten.  Not only did she see that, but she got to see six great grandchildren grow, be at weddings and experience significant events in their lives, especially getting to meet and dote on her great-great grandson.  We will miss her terribly.

Vera's life celebration service will be held on Monday, July 1, 2024 at 6:00 PM on the 25th Street beach in Ocean City, NJ.
