Obituary

Frank L. Kirby, of Audubon, NJ passed away on February 23, 2023 at the age of 72.

Loving husband of Claudia (nee Poplaski).  Dear father of Jonathan (Maribeth) Kirby of Langhorne, PA.  Son of the late Robert and Margaret Kirby.  Brother of Joseph Kirby, Mary Pace and Irene Goody.  He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Frank served in the New Jersey National Guard for over 34 years in the 1-114th
Infantry Battalion in B Company attaining the rank of Company First Sergeant (E-8) and in his later years as the Operations Sergeant in Headquarters Company. After 9-11, he served on state active duty as part of OPERATION NOBLE EAGLE I and II. He was deployed from July 2004 to January 2005 under OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM in the Sinai Peninsula, Egypt, as part of the Multinational Force and Observers rotation (MFO#47) as the Operations Sergeant for the 114th Infantry. He received many military awards and commendations including the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT) Expeditionary Medal and the MFO Medal. He was a long-time member of the 114th Regimental Association and attended meetings regularly. Frank was proud of his service to his country and was a true patriot and soldier.
In civilian life Frank worked for the New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs as an environmental specialist for 21 years.  He volunteered countless hours using his machinist, mechanical, and woodworking skills to help others.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Tuesday 9:30 to 11:00 AM at the FOSTER-WARNE FUNERAL HOME, 250 S. White Horse Pike, Audubon, NJ.  Prayer service will follow at 11:00 AM.  Interment St. Joseph's Cemetery, Chews Landing, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Frank's memory to Army Navy Union Garrison 52, 26 Riverview Ave., National Park, NJ 08063 and/or Luke's Place, 323 E. Atlantic Ave., Audubon, NJ 08106 ( www.lukesplace21.org ).
