Obituary

Fred passed away on August 17, 2021 at home in Audubon, NJ surrounded by his loving family.  Age 89 years.

Dear son of the late Jean Beer.  Beloved husband of 66 years to Evelyn (nee Murray).  Loving father of Linda (Glen) Geserick, Gloria (Herb) May, Laura (John) Mooney, Teresa Bargas and Diana (Robert) Giosia.  Devoted grandfather of Laura, Glen, Samantha, Stephanie, John, Shayla and Kevin and great grandfather to Ella, Saylor, Delaney and Tatum.  Dear brother of Amelia "Mazzi" Jackson and the late Dorothy and Jean.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Fred met the love of his life, Evelyn, when she was 17. They got engaged when Evelyn turned 18.  He went into the service (Army) in December 1952 and was discharged in October 1954. He was stationed in Seoul, Korea. Fred and Evelyn married on July 9, 1952 at Sacred Heart Church in Camden, and recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. They became famous last year when we celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary by way of a drive-by parade and were interviewed by Channel 6, Action News!  They went on to have five daughters. Fred worked for the IRS and retired at the age of 55, which he was so proud of.  He enjoyed playing softball as a young man and went on to coach his daughters in the town softball league.  He served as a Eucharist minister at Holy Maternity Church in Audubon, volunteered at the voting polls, and helped friends with their tax returns, it was always a challenge to find them an extra dollar or two! He also called BINGO for Sacred Heart Church.

Fred truly enjoyed his trips to the "Wildwoods", eating at the Lobster House; trips to Florida, Lake George and Maine.  But the trip he held dearest to his heart was their 25th Anniversary Trip to Bermuda. He also loved going to the casinos in AC and rides to Smithville and going to Lancaster.

Fred had the gift of "gab" --by the time dad was done talking to the complete stranger, he knew their whole life story!

His greatest pleasure was spending time with his family -- whether he was attending one of the childrens' sporting events; our backyard gatherings; our Octoberfest parties; babysitting the grandchildren.  His family brought him so much joy!

Dad, your famous "Duck voice" will be with us always!  He will be in his family's hearts always and forever!

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Friday, August 20, 9 to 11 AM at the FOSTER-WARNE FUNERAL HOME, 250 S. White Horse Pike, Audubon, NJ.  Prayer service will follow at 11 AM.  Interment will be private for family at Harleigh Cemetery, Camden, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Fred's memory to Sacred Heart Church, 1739 Ferry Ave., Camden, NJ 08104 and/or Lighthouse Hospice, 200 Lake Dr. East, Cherry Hill, NJ 08002.

** Please note that the family requests MASKS to be worn by all those attending.  Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.**
