We mourn the passing of George M. Hawthorne on May 30, 2022, age 65. Beloved husband for 44 years to Amy Clampitt Hawthorne, devoted father of Jessica (Owen) and Emily (Michael), and loving Pop to Chloe, Ethan, and Caleb. Also survived by his mother Myrna, brother Joel (Terri), and sister Peggy (Chuck), all of Silver Spring, MD, as well as eleven nieces and nephews.
Born in Syracuse, New York, George was a graduate of the University of Charleston (WV) and Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary (PA). George's life work was ministering through the churches he served in Hyannis, MA, Collingswood, NJ, and Blue Bell, PA.
George was a gifted musician who shared his talents weekly with his congregations and later with his three grandchildren. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and could often be seen walking the malls of South Jersey for exercise.
