On June 15, 2017, of Collingswood, NJ. Age 87 years.
Beloved husband of the late Gail B. Sota (nee Copeland). Dear father of the late Penelope K. (the late Todd H.) Brown and the late George Sota, Jr. He is lovingly survived by his dear daughter, Constance D. Sota, brother-in-law, David C. (Catharine R.) Copeland, two nieces, Karin A. Copeland and Lisen M.C. McDowel and 3 nephews, Christopher D., Michael E. and Nicholas T. Copeland.
George was born in Philadelphia, PA and graduated from Abington High School in 1948. He enlisted in the Air Force at the of 18 and served in the Korean War, receiving several medals for his service. After returning home from the war, George became an Arthur Murray dance instructor and enjoyed much success with his own studio in Wilkes-Barre, PA. In 1970, he became a surveyor in the construction industry. After working in the Philadelphia area for 8 years, George went to Saudi Arabia and worked on a royal palace for a U.S. contractor. For many years, he worked as a surveyor for Copeland Surveying, Inc. After retirement, he worked for his son-in-law's telecommunications business, Digital Access. George was an inventor and recently had a patent approved and a trademark published.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Wednesday 10 to 11:15 AM at the FOSTER-WARNE FUNERAL HOME, 820 Haddon Ave., Collingswood, NJ. Funeral Service will follow at 11:15 AM. Interment Woodbury Memorial Park, West Deptford, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
