Obituary

On May 22, 2009, of Collingswood, NJ. Age 82 years. Retired aeronautical engineer with US Naval Air Development Center. Died of complications after a heart attack.

He was born at home in Collingswood in 1926. Beloved husband of Dorothy L. Woods (nee-Wentworth) for 55 years. Dear father of Julia Mary Woods, Gordon Samuel Woods, Martha Louise MacDonald and James Walter Woods. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren. Brother of the late Raymond Woods. Uncle of Raymond and Ron Woods.

Mr. Woods honorably served in the US Navy on the USS Catron from 1944 to 1946. He received the Pacific Theatre Ribbon, American Theatre Ribbon and the Victory Medal. He graduated from Drexel University in 1951 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He was also an active member and past commander of Tatem-Shields Post #17 American Legion, Collingswood for 64 years.

Mr. Woods was a professional engineer and member of ASME for 58 years. He loved his golfing at Valleybrook Country Club in Blackwood and bowling at the legion post.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service on Thursday 11 AM at the FOSTER-WARNE FUNERAL HOME, 820 Haddon Ave., Collingswood, NJ. Friends may visit with the family Thursday 10 to 11 AM. Interment private.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Tatem-Shield Post #17, 622 S. Atlantic Ave., Collingswood, NJ 08108 or your favorite charity.
