IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Harry V.
Prete, Jr.
September 19, 1943 – January 22, 2022
Commemorating the memory and life of our father after one year of his passing. Harry Victor Prete Jr., Dad, was born in Philadelphia and raised in the traditions of his Catholic Italian heritage. At the age of just 17, he enlisted in the Marine Corps where he would later become a part of a major historical event, the Cuban Missile Crisis. After this he would then move on to be stationed in Rota Spain where he would meet and marry our mother, Marta Prete on February 1, 1964. Being honorably discharged from the Marines after serving his country faithfully, Harry returned home to the United States where he would start his family with Marta. Harry, dad and Marta, mom would go on to have five children. A definite thing that we, his children, could say about dad is that his life and heart was full of compassion. A man, husband and father with a big heart who always made sure we had what we needed to grow up well in life. In a most peaceful way, it is known by us all that dad has passed onto heaven where he would be reunited with his parents and late family including his late grandson James, "Jimmy" Matreale. A traditional Catholic Mass was held after his passing at Saint Theresa of Calcutta Parish and a Marine Corps Honor Guard would assist in his burial at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. He could be visited at his final resting place there, next to his grandson Jimmy. Dad's life and death is survived by his wife, Marta, five children, Maria, Christina, Harry, Louise, Michael, and his nine grandchildren, Nicholas, Andrew, Julia, Maria, Steven, Rocco, Veronica, Isla, and Cecilia as well as his many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. We love and miss you Dad, Pop-Pop.
