Obituary

Helen "Tottie" Currier (nee Taylor), RN, of Cape May, NJ; formerly of Camden and Collingswood, NJ passed at the age of 85. Helen was born and raised at 305 Cooper St. in Camden. She was educated at St. Mary's Hall, Burlington, NJ and graduated in 1944. She rode the Pennsylvania Railroad steam train to class in Burlington each day from Camden. Tottie graduated from the Jefferson School of Nursing in Philadelphia in 1948 which began a long career in nursing.

Tottie was a direct descendent of the Cooper family of Camden, and enjoyed donating to and visiting the Camden County Historical Society.

In 1957, Tottie met and married her soulmate, Richard "Dick" Currier, an electrical engineer who worked at RCA Victor in Camden. Tottie and Dick enjoyed driving her 1952 MG TD to Ocean City and Cape May for fun-filled summer weekends on the beach.

In 1961, Tottie and Dick moved to Haddon Ave. in Collingswood, to raise their three sons. Richard "Chip" Currier of Toms River, NJ; Sandy Currier of Bedford, MA and Jack Currier of Nashua, NH. She is also survived by three daughters-in-law; Trevor, Randi and Kelly and two granddaughters, Emma and Lindsey.

In 1987, they retired and enjoyed Cape May.

On October 20, after living independently, driving her convertible, sun bathing and happy hour, she passed to the Lord while talking politics among her closest friends.

Her only regret was not being able to vote for Mitt Romney on November 6th.

For Collingswood friends: a graveside ceremony will take place at Harleigh Cemetery, Camden, NJ on Friday, November 2 at 11:30 AM followed by a reception. For Cape May friends: a memorial service will occur at the Episcopal Church of the Advent, Cape May, NJ on Saturday, November 3 at 3:00 PM followed by Happy Hour.

In lieu of flowers, Tottie wished donations be made to the Camden County Historical Society, 1900 Park Blvd., Camden, NJ 08103 (cchsnj.com).

Arrangements by the FOSTER-WARNE FUNERAL HOME, Collingswood, NJ.
