On October 6, 2009, a longtime resident of Collingswood, NJ. Age 86 years.
Beloved husband of 61 years to the late Jean H. Irwin. Dear father of James (Kathleen) of Maple Shade, NJ, Nancy (Joe) Orlando of Haddon Heights, NJ and Scott (Cheryl) of Collingswood, NJ. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Born in 1923 in the Morgan Village section of Camden, Mr. Irwin was a 1941 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, serving from 1942 to 1945 in both Atlantic and Pacific Theaters of Operations with the rank of Pharmacist Mate First Class. Mr. Irwin was active in the Philadelphia labor movement, serving as former chairman of the board of directors of the AFL Medical Service Plan of Philadelphia.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with his family on Saturday 9 to 11 AM at the FOSTER-WARNE FUNERAL HOME, 820 Haddon Ave., Collingswood, NJ. Funeral service will follow at 11 AM. Interment Locustwood Memorial Park, Cherry Hill, NJ.
