(nee Jones) Peacefully on November 6, 2022, of Medford, NJ. Age 93 years.
Beloved wife of 72 years to John W. Croft. She is also lovingly survived by her children: John H. (Valerie), Cheri, Kurt (Denise), Jim (Nancy) and Jennifer (Mike); 16 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Janet was born in Lower Merion, Montgomery County, PA. She was raised along
with her 3 older sisters in the Camden/Merchantville area.
In 1942, Janet joined a club named The Tanangers. This club consisted of a dozen young ladies and their motto was "Friends We Are (FWA)." The children of these women have many "honorary" aunts and uncles as the club's monthly meetings continued throughout the women's lives.
Janet attended Merchantville High School where she played field hockey and was voted "Class Clown" of the 1948 graduating class. She was funny as an adult too!
After high school, Janet was employed by Bell Telephone (Camden) as a telephone operator. She often said she would dream of wires, switches and lights while she worked at "The Bell or Ma Bell."
Janet married the love of her life, John, June 17, 1950. They started their married life in Haddonfield and Audubon for a brief time, then moving to Cherry Hill in 1953. They later settled down in Medford in 1963. Their
children were born in 1951, 1953, 1955, 1957 & 1967.
Homemaking was Janet's charge. Her days were spent cooking, baking, taking care of her husband, children, other family members, many pets and she had time for anyone who needed a shoulder to lean on.
Janet loved babies and births of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were greatly celebrated.
Janet's hobbies included learning about the Pine Barrens of South Jersey, traveling, playing tennis, sewing, making floral arrangements and she was a great collector of items.
Her mama bear instincts were fierce and strong, love and teachings were not spared. She will be missed by many.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Tuesday, November 15, 10 AM to 11 AM at the FOSTER-WARNE FUNERAL HOME, 820 Haddon Ave., Collingswood, NJ. Funeral Service will follow at 11 AM. Interment Harleigh Cemetery, Camden, NJ. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to your favorite charity.
