Jean Elizabeth (nee Dearden) Papineau, 99, died on June 6, 2024 at her home in Burlington, NJ. Jean was the wife of the late Normand Papineau and a longtime resident of Holyoke, MA. Jean and Normand had been married for 53 years upon his death in 2005.
Jean, the daughter of the late Robert and Edrie Dearden, was born in Holyoke, MA and was a graduate of Holyoke High School. She was a lifelong and dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church of Holyoke and a faithful member of the Eastern Star. An excellent baker, Jean loved sharing her delicious treats with family and friends. An avid birdwatcher, Jean kept the birds and squirrels in her backyard very well fed and the neighborhood dogs were regularly treated to biscuits when they came to visit.
Jean is survived by her beloved children, Marc Papineau of Castro Valley, CA; Cheryl (Bob) Shober of Haddon Heights, NJ and Peter (Sandra) Papineau of Holyoke. She leaves her cherished grandchildren; Bob, Becky, Anjuli, Henna and Jason and her treasured great-grandchildren; Autumn, JJ, Lily, Katelyn and Maddie and many nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was predeceased by her brother Glenn and his wife Marjorie of Albuquerque, NM and grandson Rick Oyola Papineau of Holyoke.
A private service will be held for Jean at the Forestdale Cemetery in Holyoke. In lieu of flowers or memorial donations, the family requests that random acts of kindness be performed in Jean's memory.
