Joan Mary Borden (Heflich) 95, passed peacefully on July 15, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.

Joan was born April 9, 1931 in Secaucus, New Jersey, a daughter of the late Henrietta and George Heflich. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of over 60 years, Rodney.  Joan is survived by her four children. In addition, she leaves behind 10 grandchildren, along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss her.

Joan loved to cook and bake for the people she cared about and still has loved ones in Beachwood, New Jersey and Morganton, North Carolina where she split the bulk of her adult life. She was especially thankful for her “Sisterhood” friends in North Carolina.

A memorial service will be held on August 8th at 11:00 a.m. at the Salem United Methodist Church in Morganton, North Carolina.  In lieu of flowers, it was Joan’s wish that donations in her memory be made to the Salem United Methodist Church, 1200 Salem Road, Morganton, North Carolina 28655.
