Joan Mary Abbott Brown of Cape May Point, New Jersey, passed away surrounded by her loving family on April 19th after an illness. Joan was born June 27, 1935 to Mary and Jesse Abbott of Audubon, New Jersey. She graduated from Audubon High School in June 1953 where she was a cheerleader and a straight A student.

Upon graduation, Joan married the love of her life, James Brown, of Oaklyn New Jersey; the man who would stand by her side for the next 50 years. After raising three children, Joan returned to complete college and later, while working as an elementary school teacher, received her master's degree from Glassboro State College to become a librarian.

In addition to her three children, Michael, David and Mary Kay, and their spouses, Debby, Eve and David, she is survived by 7 grandchildren and 4 1⁄2 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Tuesday, April 25, 10:00 to 11:30 AM at St. Rose of Lima Church, 300 E. Kings Highway, Haddon Heights, NJ 08035. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM.  Interment private.
