John Albert "Pops" Boyd, of Haddon Heights, New Jersey, passed peacefully at home on
Tuesday, June 10, 2021
. He was born on
June 21, 1945
, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the third child of Thomas and Henrietta (Greenhalgh) Boyd. He attended Cheltenham High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, class of 1975.
John, an engineer and craftsman, met Lilli Kondyra, an artist, at Peter Lumber Yard in 1971. They married in 1973, and later moved to Haddon Heights, New Jersey, where they raised their four children: Heather, Erin, John, and Emily. John retired as a naval architect from the Army Corp of Engineers office in Philadelphia in 2004 after 30 years of service. He was a Vietnam Veteran, soccer coach, and proud Haddon Heights resident for 44 years.
John is survived by his wife Lilliana, children Heather (Brian Aufdenberg) Boyd, Erin (Kyle Wilton) Boyd, John (Heather Sanders Boyd) Boyd, and Emily (Nate Longcope) Longcope; his grandchildren Violet Aufdenberg, Beatrice Longcope, Samuel Wilton, and Rumi Boyd. John is also survived by his older sister Charlotte Severino; and countless nieces, nephews, and extended family members. John was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Boyd, as well as his parents.
The family has chosen to celebrate John's life privately, but want to take this opportunity to express their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this time. In memorial donations may be made to Samaritan Hospice of NJ
