On January 25, 2013, of Collingswood, NJ, formerly of Audubon, NJ. Age 80 years.
John was predeceased by his wife, Katherine A. Hoyt, and is survived by his daughter, Theresa Hoyt-Chattin (The Rev. Mark Chattin), stepdaughter, Barbara J. Thompson (Evelyn Simmons), stepson, Donald J. Thompson (Lisa) and other stepchildren who no longer live in the area. Brother-in-law to Robert D. Greene and proud grandfather of Arielle Catron and Timothy Satterlee and step-grandfather to Robert Kiefer.
Formerly known as "Gabby" to his friends at work, Johnny retired from Bell Telephone in 1987. During his career he worked as both a switching technician and public speaker for the phone company. From the 1950's through the 1980's, he was well-known in local community theatre groups as both an actor and director. He had a great love of music, having a collection of well over 2500 record albums, which he would gladly share with anyone interested. John also served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with his family on Sunday, 3 to 4 PM at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 839 Haddon Ave., Collingswood, NJ. Memorial Service will follow at 4 PM.
