John Michael Nolan, of Haddon Township, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 5, 2026. John was 83 years old.
John had many names. His beloved mother and his sisters called him Michael, his children called him Dad, his friends and co-workers called him Mike, and his grandchildren called him Poppy. John lived life to the fullest and all of those who spent time with him will remember one crazy story after another. From burning his motorcycle through the streets of Woodlynne to his endless business ideas like the construction company he created with Uncle Dan called “U R Stuck Construction” each story got better and better. John loved spending time at the Jersey Shore, particularly in Strathmere and Sea Isle City which he referred to as his “little slice of heaven”. He was famous for telling stories about all the fish he caught—though, as his family will fondly point out, very few were ever actually seen. His favorite shore stops included the Deauville Inn, Springfield Inn, Mike’s Seafood, fishing the point, and renting boats at Frank’s Boats; places that became part of many cherished memories. He will forever be remembered sitting on the beach, having a beer, burnt to a crisp, working on what he referred to as “his golden bronze”.
A lifelong Philadelphia sports fan, John was loyal to the Philadelphia Phillies, rarely missing a game and proudly rooted for the “Iggles.” He denounced the Eagles when they fired Buddy Ryan, but returned a few years later. He took great pride in his appearance and personal style, often seen dressed head-to-toe in Nautica. John loved his cars, especially his Cadillacs, which he admired and cared for with great pride.
John was a proud Teamster for 30 years, driving tractor trailers for J.J. Maloney out of Pennsauken, NJ. Working often 70-plus hours a week, he made daily trips into New York City’s five boroughs. Through his dedication and perseverance, John passed down an incredible work ethic to his children, a legacy that will endure for generations.
John is survived by his former wife and lifetime companion and loving and loyal caretaker until his final days, Joan Nolan; his children and their spouses, Joan Peditto, Kevin and Cindy Nolan, Mark and Tracy Nolan, and Michael and Shannon Nolan; his grandchildren and their spouses, Kristin and Eric Geary, James and Alyssa Peditto, Jaclyn and Sean Green, Jacob Nolan, Josh Nolan, Leah Nolan, Sarah Nolan, Molly Nolan, Maggie Nolan, and Macie Nolan; and his great-grandchildren, Ellie Geary, Christopher Geary, and Willa Peditto.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Saturday, February 14, 2026, 10 AM to 11 AM at ST. JOSEPH THE WORKER PARISH, ST. VINCENT PALLOTTI CHURCH, 901 HOPKINS RD., HADDOFIELD, NJ 08033. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM. Interment will be private at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that John be remembered through acts of kindness; or perhaps by watching a Phillies game, cheering on the Eagles, or sharing a good shore story in his honor.
