Loving husband of 36 years to Eileen M. (nee-Miller). Amazing father of Meredith Powell (Brendan) Faust, Amy Powell and Rebecca (Fiance Dennis Donovan) Powell. Devoted Pops of Neko Jean. Dear brother of Dr. Julie Powell (the late Bill Kocher), Art "Arkie" Powell, David (Gloria) Powell, Catherine Powell Miles (Greg), Mark (Ellen) Powell PhD, Jeanne (Anthony) Pisciotta, Joan (the late George) Missimer, Peter (Jeanie) Powell, Michael (Joanie) Powell, Tom Powell and Anne (Brian) Fisch. Adored uncle of many nieces and nephews.

John was a graduate of LaSalle University and earned his Master's degree at Rowan University. He was a dedicated teacher and administrator for 30 years in the Camden City school district. John enjoyed gardening, astronomy, photography and was an avid Phillies fan.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Tuesday Evening 6 to 9 PM and Wednesday 10 to 11 AM at the FOSTER-WARNE FUNERAL HOME, 250 White Horse Pike, Audubon, NJ. Funeral service will follow Wednesday 11 AM. Interment private.
