Joe was born in Philadelphia, and the city always held a special place in his heart.  He worked as a union carpenter of Philadelphia Local #158 for 32 years.  He worked for and then became co-owner of Russ Kelly & Associates for 19 years.

Joe loved sports. He played in various softball, golf and horseshoe leagues throughout his life.  Joe was an inductee into the Audubon Little League Hall of Fame, and was a loved coach and umpire for many years.
