On May 19, 2008, of Pennsauken, NJ, formerly of Collingswood, NJ. Age 97 years.
Beloved husband of 57 years to the late Helen Czeiner (nee-Costello). Dear father of Frank J. Czeiner of Chadds Ford, PA and Richard W. Czeiner of Moorestown, NJ. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Nelly Czeiner of Wilmington, DE, a niece and a nephew.
Born in Philadelphia on October 12, 1910, Mr. Czeiner was a first generation American whose parents, Joseph and Caroline were from Budapest, Hungary. He attended St. Joseph's Prepatory School and graduated from Drexel Univ. with a degree in air conditioning. He later obtained registry as a Professional Engineer in the states of Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Upon graduation Mr. Czeiner was employed by the York Corp. in Philadelphia. During WWII, he was employed by the New York Ship Building Co. in Camden, NJ as an engineer designing air conditioning and refrigeration systems for U.S. Navy vessels. He also served in the Coast Guard Reserve patrolling the Port of Philadelphia. After the war he remained in the field of air conditioning and refrigeration working for the George C. Lewis Co, the Elliot-Lewis Corp. and A.A. Duckett, Inc. In 1954, he began his own air conditioning and refrigeration contracting company, Jacy, Inc., located first in Philadelphia and later in Camden, retiring in 1972.
Mr. Czeiner moved his family from Philadelphia to Collingswood, NJ in 1940 and resided there until he moved to West Palm Beach, FL in 1977. In 2004, he returned from FL to reside at the Bentley Senior Living Center in Pennsauken, NJ to be closer to family and friends.
Mr. Czeiner was an active leader in Boy Scout Troop 78, West Collingswood for more than 10 years, including being "Den Mother" for Cub Scouts. He was also an avid word and number puzzle solver and enjoyed playing bridge.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Tuesday 10 to 11 AM at the FOSTER-WARNE FUNERAL HOME, Haddon & Lees Ave., Collingswood, NJ. Prayer service will follow at 11 AM. Interment private at a later date in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Philadelphia, PA.
