Joseph L.
DeMarco, Jr.
Jun 10, 1938 — Mar 17, 2026
Joseph L. DeMarco Jr. passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was 87 years old.
Beloved husband of 55 years to Dianne L. DeMarco (née Hanna). Devoted father of Dawn (Dr. Rick Brown), the late twin daughters Deanna and Dixie DeMarco, and the late Joseph L. DeMarco III. Loving grandfather of Matthew (Kate) and John (Sydney), and proud great-grandfather of Landon, Vaida, Olivia, Parker, Wyatt, and the late baby Beau. Dear brother of the late Wayne (Barbara) DeMarco. Joe is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Joe was born on June 10, 1938, in Camden, New Jersey, and was raised in Westmont. He attended Collingswood High School, graduating in 1956, and then studied at Rutgers–Camden for three years while working at a bank.
In 1963, Joe began his insurance career from his home. In 1965, he opened an office in Mt. Ephraim and operated as Affiliated Agencies, Inc. of Camden County. Dianne joined the agency in 1968 as Joe’s part-time secretary. In 1970, Joe and Dianne married and blended their families, settling in Audubon, where they shared 55 wonderful years together.
In 1971, Joe and Dianne founded The Priority Corp on the White Horse Pike in Audubon. A few years later, they expanded the business to include a life and health insurance division. Joe later earned his CFP designation as a Certified Financial Planner in 1987.
In 1993, Joe and Dianne sold the insurance portion of the business but continued operating the life and health division while expanding into financial planning services.
While building his successful career, Joe also gave generously to his community. Along with Bruce Compaine and Mary Valenti, he founded The Audubon Business Professionals Association. He remained active in many organizations and proudly coached his son’s Little League minor and major teams.
Joe was a passionate Philadelphia sports fan, especially devoted to the Eagles and Phillies. Everyone knew the DeMarco home was always open on game days — no invitation ever needed. Friends Phil, Ralph, and Bob were regular fixtures alongside Dawn and Rick. Joe proudly claimed he was “the biggest Eagles fan alive,” and for many years, Joe and Dianne’s home truly became “Eagles Headquarters.”
Joe also had a lifelong love of golf. He was an early member of Laurel Oak Country Club, where he especially enjoyed playing with his son Joseph, who often gave him golf lessons. Later, Joe joined Medford Village Country Club, where the annual tournament held in young Joseph’s honor has continued for the past 48 years.
Throughout his life, Joe formed lasting friendships everywhere he went — through school, business, the golf course, community involvement, and the many families connected to his children.
Above all else, Joe cherished his family. He was immensely proud of his daughter and grandsons, Matt and John, who worked hard and built wonderful lives of their own. He taught them the importance of family, love, and loyalty by the example he lived every day. Nothing brought a bigger smile to Joe’s face than the sight of his great-grandchildren walking through the door. His love for his family was truly unconditional.
Joe will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
