On September 23, 2017, of Haddon Heights, NJ. Age 87 years.
Predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years, Lorraine P. Githens (nee Abbott) and brother, Russell Githens. Dear father of Kenneth S. (Carolyn M.) Githens, Barbara Ann (the late Michael) Cusick and Carolyn J. Githens. Loving grandfather of Rachel Cusick and great grandfather of Samuel, Edward and Jacqueline. He is also survived by his sister, Elaine Bower of Vermont and brother, Robert Githens of Brooklyn, NY. Many nieces and nephews along with their children were also cherished by him.
Born and raised in Barrington, NJ, he proudly served in the Korean Conflict and is a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He was also a member of Hoyle-Butcher Post #149 American Legion, Haddon Heights.
"Les" worked at Boeing after the war as well as General Electric. He then started his own business, and his carpentry skills were apparent as he did remodeling locally and built his own cabin in PA.
He enjoyed oil painting, boating, fishing, hunting and golf. He was a member of Interboro Hunting Club in Greenbank, NJ for over 60 years. Most recently he told many that he had done everything he wanted in his life and did not have a "Bucket List". A life well lived....he will be missed by many.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Friday 10 to 11 AM at the FOSTER-WARNE FUNERAL HOME, 250 White Horse Pike, Audubon, NJ. Memorial service will follow at 11 AM. Inurnment Arlington Cemetery, Pennsauken, NJ.
