Obituary

Marcia Joan Rogers , age 85, passed away on Tuesday, August 18th, just two days shy of her eighty sixth birthday.

Born and raised in Milford, Ohio, Joan was the devoted daughter of the late William E. Fay and Agnus Fay (Prizer) and sister to two brothers; William L. Fay and Richard A. Fay along with sister Dorothy Remick.

After graduating from Milford High School class of 1952, Joan went on to graduate from the University of Cincinnati where she met and married the late James I. Rogers.  She later moved to Connecticut and then settled to raise her boys in Collingswood, New Jersey, surrounded by a large extended family.

Joan was the much loved mother of Charles (Beverly), James (Bethann) and Paul (Michele).  Cherished Grandma of Jacob, Faye (Jimmy), Kathryn, and Christopher.

Joan was never too busy to babysit her grandkids, make cookies, and take them out to eat with Charlie.  She played host to the annual Thanksgiving bash, making a full thanksgiving feast with all the trimmings plus her famous oyster casserole.

Her faith in God took her to be a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Collingswood.  There she served on numerous boards, sang in the choir, visited shut-ins as church visitor and established the church's first nursery school and acted as it's director.  Along the way she made lifelong friendships that she so treasured.  She was always there to give support to her friends whether it be by offering a listening ear, giving advice and assistance, or acting as chauffeur.

Joan taught hundreds of children throughout the years at the Mary Bray Elementary School in the Mount Ephraim School District, educating generations of families in her 3rd grade class, hoping to make a difference for each child.

She was successful in touching many lives with love and kindness in her lifetime and we have certainly all been enriched by knowing her.

Services will be determined at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to homestretchva.org.  Memories and condolences may be shared at www.fosterwarnefuneralhome.com
