Margaret A. Lacovara (née Carter), 77, a longtime resident of Medford, NJ passed away on September 11, 2026, after a brief illness. A dedicated mother, grandmother, educator, and community member, Margaret’s warmth touched generations.

Beloved wife of 38 years to the late Mark P. Lacovara, Sr. Loving mother of Jennifer L. (Craig) Kenderdine, Mark P., Jr. (Debra), Jeffrey M. (Laura) and Michelle A. (David) Birkey. Devoted grandmother of Logan (the late Mason) Meadows, Grace Kenderdine, Zoe Lacovara, Ella and Emma Kenderdine and Lucille and Madalyn Birkey; and great grandmother to Porter Meadows. Her grandchildren were truly the light of her life.

Cherished daughter of the late William R. and Margaret K. Carter, Sr. Dear sister of Marianne (John) Warne, Jr., the late William R. (Claire) Carter, Jr., John (Donna) Carter, the late Martha (Joseph) Shaw and Edward Carter. Margaret is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews as well as her many dear friends and the wonderful neighbors who meant so much to her.

Margaret was a 1967 graduate of Collingswood High School where she was an excellent athlete and captain on the field hockey, basketball and lacrosse teams. She was inducted into the Collingswood High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2009.

For 34 years, Margaret served as a teacher’s aide at Small World Nursery School in Medford. A cherished fixture in the school’s history, she helped guide generations of children through their early years. Margaret was also a faithful parishioner of St. Mary of the Lakes Church in Medford, where she served for many years as a catechist, preparing children to receive their First Holy Communion.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Wednesday evening, 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the FOSTER-WARNE FUNERAL HOME, 820 Haddon Ave., Collingswood, NJ and Thursday, 10:00 to 11:30 AM at ST. MARY OF THE LAKES CHURCH, 40 Jackson Rd., Medford, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 AM. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill, NJ.
