Mark J.
Kogut
July 15, 1952 – April 13, 2021
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Mark J. Kogut. After fighting a courageous battle against cancer, Chief Kogut passed away peacefully at home in Audubon on April 13, 2021, surrounded by his loving family and friends at the age of 68.
Beloved husband of 44 years to Karen Kogut (nee Futchko). Dear father of Joseph (Corinne) Kogut and the late Michael Kogut. Loving grandfather of "Bebe" Beatrice Elizabeth. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Donna Futchko and dear friend, James McCausland and his family.
Mark spent his life in service, first as an Army engineer and then as a firefighter for Camden City, rising to the rank of Battalion Chief in a distinguished career of 26 years. Mark graduated from Merchantville High School in 1970 after which he enlisted in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He went on to work at the Philadelphia Shipyard before finding his true passion at the Camden City Fire Department and retired as a Battalion Chief in 2007. He went on to work for Lourdes Medical as a courier until his retirement.
Mark had a great love for metalworking and created unique sculptures and ironwork in his basement, know as "The Lab". He was an exceptional storyteller and could command a crowd with his tales especially at The Old Rail in Barrington.
He will be missed by all he touched.
