Suddenly on April 12, 2025, of Supply, NC; formerly of Medford, NJ.  Age 68 years.

Beloved husband of 45 years to Kim Murphy (nee Stone).  Loving father of Ryan (Kaitlin) Murphy of Alexandria, VA and Katie (Rick) Rettinger of Chatsworth, NJ.  Devoted grandfather of Miles and Piper Murphy.  Son of the late Joseph F. and Florence D. Murphy (nee Engel).  Dear brother of Christine Murphy Richardson (Jack) of Richmond, VA and the late Cynthia Moran.  He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Debbie (the late Glenn) DiPaolo, Jill Houck and Mary (Paul) Bakey as well as many nieces and nephews.

Born in Camden, NJ on July 13, 1956, Mark grew up in Westmont, NJ.  He loved the sea and sailing, both competitively in his youth, winning the 1973 Comet Junior National Championship, and recreationally throughout his life.  Mark was a 1974 graduate of Haddon Township High School.  He received a Congressional nomination to attend the United States Merchant Marine Academy where he earned a United States Coast Guard maritime officer's license, graduating in 1978.

Mark and Kim married on November 10, 1979 and raised their family together in the house that they built in Medford, NJ.  Mark was an active participant in all his communities, at his kids' schools, as a coach, on various civic communities and always volunteering to help family, friends and neighbors.

Mark spent nearly a decade working on merchant ships before enjoying a 30 year career at the University of Pennsylvania as an Operations Shift Supervisor with the Facilities & Real Estate group.  After retiring from Penn, Mark worked as an assistant harbormaster at a local marina near his home in Supply, NC which ultimately brought him back to a life at sea which he loved so dearly.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mark's viewing on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, 9:30 to 11:00 AM at the FOSTER-WARNE FUNERAL HOME, 250 S. White Horse Pike, Audubon, NJ.  Funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM.  Interment Locustwood Memorial Park, Cherry Hill, NJ.
