Marlene M. Breakstone (nee Kaplan) passed away on June 15, 2015 at Vitas Hospice Inpatient Unit, Kennedy Hospital, Stratford, NJ. A resident of Collingswood, NJ, Marlene was 82 years old.
She was the beloved wife of 50 years to the late Jack Breakstone. Devoted mother of Alan C. Breakstone of Collingswood, NJ and Carole D. Breakstone of Greenbelt, MD. Dear sister of Stanley Kaplan of the Bronx, NY.
Marlene had a Master's Degree in Social Work and worked many years as a substitute teacher at Collingswood Jr. and Sr. High Schools. She was an avid reader, gardener, seamstress, Siamese cat lover, bird watcher, faithful Phillies fan, involved citzen, writer of letters to her state representatives, and was known by all for her outspokenness and caring. She battled stage 3 breast cancer for 14 years and got the better of it for many of those years through her indomitable spirit. She is dearly missed.
Funeral service and interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
