Mary Jane “Jane” Evans, 84, of Collingswood, passed away peacefully at home after a long journey with dementia on Thursday, March 19, 2026.
Born on April 30, 1941, in Collingswood, Jane was the daughter of Mary (Lay) and Harold G. Allely. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother William “Bill” Allely, and her husband, Gordon Russell Evans, Jr.
Jane was a loving mother, grandmother, Bubbie, and great-grandmother, and family was always at the center of who she was. She is survived by her five children, Wendie Evans Price, Michael Evans, Michelle Callari, Kristen Arter, and Matthew Evans, along with 18 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and many much-loved grand-dogs.
Jane had a personality all her own. She loved butterflies and collected them often, and anyone who knew her knew how much joy they brought her. She was proud of her Irish heritage, and in her later years, after doing ancestry testing and digging into her family history, she discovered Jewish roots that had been lost over time. That discovery meant a great deal to her. It gave her a deeper sense of connection and became an important part of how she understood herself in the later chapter of her life.
She loved music and spent several years singing with Sweet Adelines. She was also part of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed the friendship and fun that came with it. Jane loved to read, appreciated art, and enjoyed drawing. While she spent much of her adult life caring for her home and family, she also led an interesting life over the years, taking on a number of jobs, including phone operator, private investigator, model, and transportation escort.
More than anything else, Jane loved her family. She gave so much of herself to the people she loved, and that love will stay with them always.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, March 27, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 252 East Evesham Road, Cherry Hill, NJ 08003. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and the memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment Locustwood Memorial Park, Cherry Hill, NJ.
Those who wish to send flowers may have them sent to the church at the above address. For those who have asked how to support the family during this especially difficult time of multiple recent losses, contributions may also be made through the GoFundMe, ‘Support for Nicholas Callari’s Family.’ https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-for-nicholas-callaris-family
Mary Jane leaves behind a family who loved her dearly and will miss her terribly. Her memory will live on in the stories she told, the music she loved, the art she appreciated, and in every butterfly that makes someone stop and think of her.
Arrangements by the Foster-Warne Funeral Home, Collingswood and Audubon, NJ.
