Obituary

Matthew Steven Tozer, age 37, of Austin, TX, formerly of Haddon Heights, NJ passed away peacefully on Wednesday August 17, 2016 after an extremely challenging and brave battle with cancer. Matt was a talented, kind hearted and loving son, father, friend and husband. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Matt was born on February 22, 1979 in Cape May Courthouse, NJ and was adopted by his parents, Nancy B. (nee Grabarski) and Robert L. "Ben" Tozer of Haddon Heights, NJ. Matt was raised in Haddon Heights and attended St. Rose of Lima Grammar School and Bishop Eustace High School. He was very curious and intelligent and excelled in school. He had great interests in current events, politics, history and philosophy. Matt was also a natural athlete and enjoyed many sports including bowling, basketball, golf and soccer. Matt graduated from St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia, PA in 2001 with a major in Political Science and a minor in Philosophy.

Matt also enjoyed spending time with his friends from growing up and college. They played music together in bands, went to see live music, played scrabble, debated about politics and philosophy, rode bikes and went on great adventures with one another. He loved them dearly.

After college, Matt went on to work as a consultant for power grid operators around the country. He started out as a consultant at Accenture and then went onto become a Manager with The Structure Group. His last position as a consultant was with ERCOT in Taylor, TX. In 2012, ERCOT hired him as their Manager of Billing and Settlements. At ERCOT he was well respected for being a hard worker, a team player and very knowledgeable. Matt will be remembered as a great mentor to many individuals which improved ERCOT as a whole.

It was during this time that he met and married his loving wife, Catherine "Grayson" (nee Hoffman) of Austin, TX. Together, Matt and Grayson loved camping, hiking, canoeing and exploring the outdoors, especially Big Bend National Park. Matt also loved cars, gardening, fishing and making and/or fixing things with his own hands.

Matt is survived by his wife, Grayson Tozer, his son, Cliff Emory Tozer, his parents, Nancy B. and Robert L. "Ben" Tozer, his sister, Donna Christine Tozer, his aunts Jane Veronica Lloyd and Barbara Anne Ruch, numerous cousins and dear friends.
