Michael A. Benner, 73, beloved husband, father, brother, Uncle, PopPop and friend to many, passed away on April 9, surrounded by his children.

Mike was born on October 26, 1949 and grew up partially in Newark, Ohio until his family moved to Cherry Hill, NJ when he was six. He had many accomplishments in his favorite sport of swimming and joined the Navy after high school. He grew up listening to music and developed a deep appreciation for all genres but particularly fell in love with The Grateful Dead upon attending one of their concerts in the late 60's. Since that time, he went to many of their concerts (and others) over the years and was always eager to share his knowledge and enthusiasm with others.

Above all, Mike's love for his family reigned supreme. His most cherished days were being surrounded by his kids and grandkids by his pool and bbq. He is survived by his wife, Kim Benner (Cogswell), his children, Justin Benner (Deanna) and Michelle Long (Jimmy), his mother, Marie Benner, his sister, Leslie Marvel (Jim), former wife, Linda Benner and his many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and cousins in Georgia. Mike is predeceased by his father, Dick Benner, his brother, Rick Benner and his son, Christopher Benner.

Mike will be remembered for his kind heart, his adventurous spirit, his quick wit and his passion for music. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of Mike's life will be held on May 6, 2023 at The Barrington VFW. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite animal shelter, a cause that was important to him.
