(nee Devitt) On November 22, 2017, of Atco, NJ; formerly of Cherry Hill, NJ. Age 91 years.
Beloved wife of the late John W. Dambly. Dear mother of Harold (Arnette) Dambly and Deborah (Craig) Murphy. Loving grandmother of Christopher and Nicolle. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, David Dambly.
Deb grew up in Philadelphia, where she attended Friends Select School, class of '44 and then graduated in 1948 from Guilford College in Greensboro, NC. John and Deb married in 1952 and started their life together in Collingswood, NJ. Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Collingswood was a central part of their lives, where Deb served for 7 decades as a Sunday school teacher, Vestry member and Warden. In 1965, John and Deb moved to Cherry Hill where she was active in the PTA and Girl Scouts as a troop leader. Deb was a homemaker until the children grew up. She then started her career as a bookkeeper, while also preparing personal tax returns. Her last 25 years were spent at Dambly's Garden Center, retiring at the age of 86. Over the years, Deb volunteered for IHOC (Interfaith Homeless Outreach Council) and enjoyed catching up with neighbors while working at the local voting polling location. In 2014, Deb moved to the Fountains at Cedar Parke in Atco, where among other activities she had a rigorous schedule of playing bridge and pinochle.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Saturday, December 16, 11 AM to 12 Noon at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 839 Haddon Ave., Collingswood, NJ 08108. Burial Office & Holy Eucharist will follow at 12 Noon. Inurnment will follow in Holy Trinity Memorial Garden.
In lieu of flowers, contribution's may be made in Deb's memory to Interfaith Homeless Outreach Council c/o John Dambly House, 1989 Rt. 70 East, Cherry Hill, NJ 08003 and/or the church at the above address.
