Dick graduated from Collingswood High School in 1945 and later earned his degree in engineering from the University of Pennsylvania . In his early retirement years , he thoroughly enjoyed his days on his sailboat , the " Well Done , " happily navigating the Chesapeake river with his children and grandchildren . Dick also e njo yed airplanes , gardening , history , and in his later retirement years became a writer for the local Retrospect , penning many articles documenting his growing up and observing all of the changes in Haddon Township and South Jersey from the 1920 ' s through the present day .
Dick was the adored and respected patriarch , leader , and mentor of the family . He was pre - deceased by his loving wife Elaine , to whom he was married for 60 years , the devoted father of Scott ( Eve ) , and Carol ( Joe ) , and the caring grandfather of Christie ( Chad ) , Jill ( Adam ) , Scott ( Julia ) , Jon ( fiancee Thais ) , and Jack ( devoted partner , Alyssa ) , and the proud great grandfather to Graham , Cameron , and Michaela . Dick loved life and would always see the best in everything he did and in everyone he met . His positive attitude was infectious and a lesson for all of us . He will be remembered most as a role model whose greatest love was spending time with his family , and he gave those who knew him t h e gift as to how to lead a successful and wonderful life . He will live on in our hearts for many years to come , and will be so deeply missed .
