Robert A. Shaner, age 69, of Haddonfield, Marietta, GA and Collingswood passed away suddenly on September 23, 2016. He was the beloved husband of Kathi Boggs-Shaner; brother to Pamela Shaner of Toms River, NJ; proud father of Brandon R. (Melissa) Shaner of Palmyra, NJ and Nicole K. (Brandon) Pliskin of Philadelphia, PA; loving grandfather of Austin L. Shaner. Son of the late Francis and Hasseltine "Midi" Shaner; son-in-law to Helen "Mitzi" Boggs, brother-in-law to David (Ellen) Boggs of Oaklyn, NJ and Karen Boggs-Favorite (Tim) of Nashua, NH.
A graduate of Collingswood High School, Class of '65, "Shane" played football for Collingswood's 7-2 winning season in '65. A Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, he served our country in two tours of duty during the Vietnam Conflict. Shane retired from Sysco Foods, Atlanta, GA.
Shane resided with his wife in Haddonfield for the last 10 years. He loved being with his family, enjoyed helping his children renovate their homes, looked forward to fishing, beach vacations, his annual mini reunion trips with his Collingswood and Georgia buddies and most of all, being Poppy to his grandson.
A celebration of his life is scheduled on Saturday, October 8th, 1:00 to 4:00 PM at The Tap Room, 427 W. Crystal Lake Ave., Haddon Twp., NJ. The family welcomes his and their many friends to remember what an exceptional person he was.
