Obituary

Roger Adams of Collingswood, NJ, passed away on Sunday, August 18th, 2024. He is survived by many loving family and friends: his wife, Helene Adams, his parents, Phillip and Ethel Adams of Conway, SC, step-daughter Charissa (Bill) Lipman, grandson Ryker, and numerous other family and friends.

Roger was a railroad engineer for SEPTA Regional Rail who was raised in and graduated from Haddon Township High School. He attended the University of Pittsburgh and Rutgers University and was a former member of Grace Baptist Church of Westmont.

Roger had many accomplishments in life. He was a humble culinary genius and grill master. As a multi-instrumentalist he played in several bands and spent many hours playing guitar with his grandson. He was an avid golfer and a past member of Merchantville and Riverton Golf Clubs. Being a bibliophile who had an almost photographic memory, he was able to recite numerous treasured passages. His critical thinking was the basis for his sharp wicked wit, which he often used towards his most cherished friends and family. He also generously shared deep compassion, knowledge, and advice with those he loved.

Roger achieved many milestones in life, including recently reaching fifteen years of sobriety and four years of being smoke-free. We only wish overcoming his cancer could have been one of those.

A private celebration of his life will be held at a future time and location.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the CACNA1A Foundation on behalf of Ryker Lipman, or Samaritan Hospice of New Jersey.

The notorious R. O. G.

Remarkably Outstanding. Gentleman

To all my friends I bid adieu

A more sudden death you never knew

As I was operating my train to the station

Cancer took me like an unscheduled cancellation

All the baggage I left behind:

The books, the golf clubs, the laughs and good times

The music continues whether I'm here or there

Will someone tell me if this was fair?
