Father Mark Chattin passed away suddenly on August 27, 2022, while vacationing in Ocean City, NJ.
Beloved husband of Theresa Hoyt-Chattin. Loving father of Jonathan (Nicole) Chattin, Andrew (Briana) Chattin, Charissa (Joseph) Poklikuha and Kaitlyn (Christopher) Khan and stepchildren, Arielle Catron and Timothy Satterlee. Dear grandfather of Caiden, Jonathan Jr., Cody, Ava, Christian, Jack, Gage, Jackson, Ella, Amelia, and step grandchild Joseph. He is also lovingly survived by his sisters, Anne (John) Shields, Mary (A.J.) McMullen and Ellen (Matthew) Shaw, five nieces and nephews, his aunt Irene Parsells, and former wife, Cynthia Chattin. He is preceded in death by his loving parents The Very Reverend Lloyd G. Chattin and Mary Louise Chattin, sister Mary Kathleen Chattin, uncle Joseph Parsells, aunt Sister Mary Demetria CSM (Kay), and granddaughter Alessandra Chattin.
Father Mark was the Rector of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Collingswood for 24 years, and recently was also the Rector of St. Bartholomew's Church in Cherry Hill.
Father Mark grew up attending Trinity Cathedral in Trenton where his father presided as Dean, and would soon follow in his father's footsteps, dedicating his life in service of the Lord. Ordained to the priesthood in 1978, he went on to serve as Curate of Holy Cross Church in North Plainfield, Vicar of St. Andrew's Church in Plainfield, and Vicar of The Church of the Holy Innocents/St. Francis Church in Dunellen; before becoming Rector of Holy Trinity Church and St. Bartholomew's Church.
At the diocesan level he served as a member of the Diocesan Council, Convention Arrangements Committee, Provincial Synod, Standing Committee, General Convention, Convocation Dean, Cathedral Chapter, Disciplinary Board, Board of Trustees for the Albert W. Van Duzer Scholarship Fund, and Corporation for the Relief of Widows, Widowers, and Children. For over 20 years, he coordinated the Annual Acolyte Festival at Trinity Cathedral in Trenton and was committed to the youth of the diocese.
Father Mark was an active member of the Collingswood Rotary Club, and was an avid Yankees fan. He loved spending time in Atlantic City, and at his family's vacation home in Ocean City, NJ. He was deeply devoted to both his home and church families. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation Friday, September 9, 5 PM to 8 PM at the FOSTER-WARNE FUNERAL HOME, 820 Haddon Ave., Collingswood, NJ and Saturday, September 10, 9:30 AM to 11 AM at HOLY TRINITY EPISCOPAL CHURCH, 839 Haddon Ave., Collingswood, NJ 08108. Burial Office and Holy Eucharist will follow at 11 AM. Interment private.
