Obituary

On September 12, 2013, formerly of Gloucester City, NJ. Age 90 years. Son of the late James H. and Hazel Wells. Beloved husband of 68 years to Claire L. (nee Heck). Brother of Benjamin H., James H. Jr., Barbara E. Kane, Margaret Heebner, the late Dorothy M. Hyde and the late Vivian O. Brightly. He is also survived by many loving, caring nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.

Born in Camden, NJ, Walt was educated in the Camden school system and graduated in 1941 from Woodrow Wilson High School. He worked at Camden Forge and Radio Condenser before enlisting in the Navy during World War II as and aviation machinist. After his discharge, he became a Master Plumber and partner in Wells Bros. Plumbing and Heating and later became the owner of Walter L. Wells Plumbing and Heating.

He was an avid sportsman, both hunting and fishing. Walt was a lifetime member and served as president of the Pinewood Antler's Club. He was also a member of the Pennsauken Fishing Club, president and board member the Cerebral Palsy School and Treatment Center, president of Pennsauken/Merchantville Rotary Club, member of Eastside Savings and Loan, member and vice president of American Legion Post #125 and president of Tri County Travelers Club. He enjoyed making items out of wood and working faithfully in the community to help maintain it's beauty.

Walt and Claire spent many years with family and friends traveling extensively throughout the United States and many foreign countries.

He was an extremely hard worker and loving caregiver to his wife, Claire for many years. May he now be in the arms of our Lord until he comes to take him home.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Tuesday Evening, September 17th, 6 to 8 PM and Wednesday, September 18th, 10 to 11 AM at the FOSTER-WARNE FUNERAL HOME, 820 Haddon Ave., Collingswood, NJ. Funeral Service will follow Wednesday 11 AM. Entombment Locustwood Memorial Park, Cherry Hill, NJ.
