On February 23, 2007, of Sea Isle City, NJ. Age 64 years.
Beloved husband of Nancy E. Westphal (nee-Eastep). Dear father of Wendy and Eugene of Rhode Island, William IV and Tanya of Gloucester Twp. and Jeff of Gloucester Twp. Also survived by four grandchildren: Kate, Peter, William V and Rosemary and 2 sisters: Doris Hetzel and Joan Merlino.
Bill was a 1960 graduate of Audubon High School, a 1964 graduate of Monclair State College with a B.A. degree in Mathematics and in 1979 earned his Master's degree in Education Administration from Glassboro State College.
He began his career as a Math teacher at Audubon High School in 1964 and later became the department chair in 1978. During his tenure, Bill took on the role as assistant athletic director in 1970 and would later become Director of Athletics. He became principal of the school in 1992.
Bill retired in 2000 after 36 years at Audubon High School, but not without leaving his mark. He brought the community to the school with the Alumni Association and the Project Memorial Foundation, a student led project honoring Audubon's Congressional Medal of Honor heroes.
Outside of school and community activities, Bill was a sports car enthusiast, world traveler and an avid reader. He especially enjoyed the time he spent on the beach at Townsend's Inlet and with his grandchildren and family.
Relativies and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Wednesday Evening 7-9 PM and Thursday 9-10 AM at the FOSTER-WARNE FUNERAL HOME, 250 White Horse Pike, Audubon, NJ. Funeral service will follow at 10 AM. Internment Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson, NJ.
